Mzekezeke returns – set to go on tour with lookalike DJ Sbu
His last known appearance was in 2016. Now he has supposedly come out of “retirement.” But Kwaito star Mzekezeke still has his black mask on. Speculations are rife that Mzekezeke is no other than DJ Sbu himself.
But he stoutly denies it. Mzekezeke is a different person, altogether, he insists. Once upon a time, Mzekezeke was dominating the charts, filling up venues and teasing the whole of Mzansi with his vibes and enforced anonymity.
Well, he is right back. Funny enough, his return was announced by DJ Sbu himself, in a Instagram post. He wrote that Mzekezeke already lined up for him during Christmas: he wrote:
“BREAKINGNEWS Looks like @mzekezekets is back 🤣. KWAITO music might just be back! 21 shows booked for this festive. No hit song. No new music.
“No tv show. Just the love. It’s amazing the power of a brand built 17 years ago still resonates with South Africans to this day NAMANJE. I saw him rock a sold out @joburgtheatre last week with a 20 year old DJ @lindash_97
“Last night I saw him shutdown a 50k @royalheritagefestival crowd in Vendaas a surprise ACT. The love was real 🙏🏿🇿🇦 #AYEYESUMMER2018!!! #RIPBrownDash”
The old tease remains, however. Mzekezeke is not removing his mask anytime soon, which has been stoking the speculations that DJ Sbu is one and the same person as Mzekezeke. Picture od DJSbu sharing a stage with Mzekezeke has not convinced many.
Many in Mzansi assume DJ Sbu is taking everyone for a ride with the Mzekezeke “joke” and have been cooking up ingenious ways to verify who is behind the mask.
A Twitter user going by the handle hadrack900 is calling for a collaboration between the duo to determine Mzekezeke is in fact no DJ Sbu. His tweet reads: “We need a collabo of @djsbu and @MzekezekeTS tjovitjo”
Another user ((@AubreyChiibi) tweeted: “Dj Sbu must respect us. if he wants to bring Mzekezeke back he should put on the mask on himself and be Mzekezeke again, not this nonsense he’s trying to pull”
